Additional Information
For those of you planning a visit in the City of Dortmund we recommend some (tourist) accommodation establishments within the city and immediate vicinity. These recommendations only reflect few of the many possibilities available to you. As mentioned before, please feel free to ask us if you need any assistance.
Our recommendations:
ETAP Hotel
A convenient way to stay in the City of Dortmund. The ETAP Hotel is located approximately 100 meters from the A40 highway between the City of Dortmund and the City of Bochum and 15 km from the city’s main railway station. The Airport "Dortmund-Wickede" is 22 km away but very well connected via public transportation (via the city center) with regular departures every 20 minutes.
Youthhostel "Adolph Kolping"
Another convenient way to stay in the City of Dortmund. The youth hostel "Adolph Kolping" is located in the middle of the city center and 1 km from the city’s main railway station. The Metro and Tram is short distance (100 m) from the youth hostel. The Airport "Dortmund-Wickede" is 14 km away but very well connected via public transportation to the city center with regular departures every 10 minutes.
Ringhotel City of Lünen
The City of Lünen (where I work as a police officer) is located approximately 16 km from the City of Dortmund Airport "Wickede" and one hour away by Metro, Bus and the regional train with two changes. Also hourly connections (travel time 25 minutes) until 01:00 a.m. are available to the City of Dortmund main railway station from Lünens main railway station (800 meters away from the hotel, 5-8 minute walk). The "Ringhotel" is the best hotel in town and more expensive than the other mentioned hotels or hostels but worth it. Be advised that there is no public transport on weeknights (between 01:00 a.m. and 4:15 a.m.) to the City of Dortmund center via regional train or bus-service. Only on weekends (Friday-Sunday) a regional bus connection is normally available between 01:00 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. by VKU Corp. (public transportation services of Lünen), departing from the Dortmund center to Lünen center three times per night. Taxi services are available 24 hrs. (approximately 20 Euros one way).
